The player who scored the most goals in a single match in the derby rivalry is Zeki Rıza Sporel.

In a special match played on June 18, 1926, where Fenerbahçe won 4-1 at the site where Ülker Stadium now stands, Zeki Rıza Sporel scored all four of Fenerbahçe’s goals.

The first official match between the two teams took place on November 12, 1926.

Long-Running Dispute

A match on November 16, 1991, led to a long-running dispute.

In the 87th minute of the 2-2 draw at Fenerbahçe Stadium, a controversial goal by Beşiktaş’s Mehmet Özdilek led to a heated public debate over whether the ball had crossed the goal line.

Fenerbahçe defender Semih Yuvakuran cleared the ball from the goal line after Mehmet Özdilek’s shot. The referee, Ahmet Çakar, and assistant referee Çetin Oytuner ruled it a goal, despite Fenerbahçe’s protests. Years later, a program revealed using a measuring device that the ball had crossed the line by 4 centimeters, putting an end to the dispute.

Pancu in Goal

In an interesting moment during the 2004-2005 season derby in Kadıköy, Beşiktaş player Daniel Gabriel Pancu found himself in goal.

With Beşiktaş’s goalkeeper Oscar Cordoba sent off in the 80th minute, and with all three substitutions already made, Pancu took over in goal and managed to keep a clean sheet for the remaining 10 minutes. Beşiktaş won 1-0.

BILICA DIGGED, PENALTY MISSED

An interesting event occurred during the 2009-2010 season’s encounter between the two teams.

In the league match on April 18, 2010, where Fenerbahçe won 1-0 against Beşiktaş at Kadıköy, Fenerbahçe’s Brazilian player Fabio Alves Da Silva, known as “Bilica,” dug at the penalty spot with his cleat before Beşiktaş earned a penalty in the 64th minute. Later, Beşiktaş’s Bobo took the penalty, but Fenerbahçe’s goalkeeper Volkan Demirel saved it, denying the opponent an equalizer.

Bilica’s unsporting behavior, which is rare in football, kept the sports agenda busy for some time.

THE LAST DERBY AT İNÖNÜ STADIUM WAS WON BY BEŞİKTAŞ

Beşiktaş won the last derby at İnönü Stadium between the two teams.

The league derby on March 3, 2013, at BJK İnönü Stadium was recorded as the last derby match at the historic stadium. The match, which turned into a goal duel, ended with Beşiktaş winning 3-2 after scoring in the 90+3rd minute. Olcay Şahan from Beşiktaş scored the final derby goal at BJK İnönü Stadium.

FENERBAHÇE DIDN’T LOSE WITH 9 PLAYERS

Fenerbahçe managed to avoid defeat despite being down to 9 players in a league match at Vodafone Park in the 2016-2017 season.

In the match played on May 7, 2017, at Dolmabahçe, Fenerbahçe trailed 1-0 at halftime after Vincent Aboubakar scored in the 45th minute. Despite going down to 9 men in the second half, Fenerbahçe held their ground. With and Josef de Souza both receiving red cards in the 88th and 90+2nd minutes, Fenerbahçe was reduced to 9 men. In the 90+4th minute, with a free kick, Beşiktaş’s Marcelo Guedes scored an own goal, and Fenerbahçe managed to leave the match with a 1-1 draw.

DERBIES WATCHED BY WOMEN AND CHILDREN

Two derbies between the teams became historic due to the spectators in the stands.

In the Super Final Championship Group, on May 3, 2012, a derby between Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe was played at BJK İnönü Stadium, and due to Beşiktaş’s penalty, only women and children under the age of 12 accompanied by their mothers were allowed to watch the match.

In the first half of the 2012-2013 season, due to Fenerbahçe’s penalty, the derby at Kadıköy was again played in front of women and children only.
