Jose Mourinho Post-Match: ‘It Was a Dramatic and Tense Victory’
Fenerbahçe defeated RAMS Başakşehir 3-1 at home in the Trendyol Süper Lig. The Yellow Canaries narrowed the gap with Galatasaray to 3 points in a week when their rivals face Trabzonspor. Head coach José Mourinho shared his thoughts on the victory.
In Week 16 of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Fenerbahçe overcame Başakşehir with goals from Edin Dzeko and En-Nesyri (2), earning a 3-1 win. The Yellow Canaries increased their points tally to 35, reducing the gap to 3 points in a crucial week when Galatasaray hosted Trabzonspor.
Fenerbahçe Head Coach José Mourinho evaluated the victory on beIN SPORTS:
“It was a tough match, even dramatic at times. We scored during a period when we were applying heavy pressure. The opponent tried to slow down the tempo of the game. In the second half, we played against 10 men but conceded due to a defensive error. We lost the ball too frequently. The opposition was wasting a lot of time. Unfortunately, Becao will likely miss the rest of the season. They didn’t allow us to build our confidence. Our goal was to press even harder, but we conceded because of our mistake. We couldn’t circulate the ball as we wanted.
“The substitutions were a bit dramatic. The opponent wasted a lot of time, and although their goalkeeper is young, he engaged in significant time-wasting. We took risks by making early changes. After it was 10 vs. 10, Tadić played as a right-back, and Müldür as a center-back. We didn’t expect a brilliant performance from the team. It was a match filled with pressure, tension, and sadness. The most important thing was to win. I dedicate this victory to a very dear friend of mine, Samet Akaydin.”
