Ismail Kartal Talks Batshuayi Decision and Fenerbahçe’s Derby Win
Fenerbahçe's Head Coach İsmail Kartal made statements after the Beşiktaş derby. İsmail Kartal also touched upon the choice of Michy Batshuayi.

Fenerbahçe’s Head Coach İsmail Kartal spoke after the match where they defeated Beşiktaş 2-1 in the derby. The experienced coach explained the reason for choosing Batshuayi.
İsmail Kartal’s statements are as follows:
“We entered the field to win the match. We were well-prepared, started very well. In the first 15 minutes, we had 2-3 100% goal-scoring opportunities. Our game also motivated our fans a lot. Eventually, the opponent was left with ten men at 25th minute, and we scored in the 30th minute. After that, when the opponent withdrew and defended deep, our productivity decreased.
WHAT DID YOU TELL THE PLAYERS AT HALFTIME?
In the first half, we told our players that we needed to score 2 or 3 more goals. We talked about continuing the same way we started the first half. We scored the second goal. We could have scored the third or fourth as well. The match ended 2-1 with the goal scored by Cenk Tosun. We knew how to win the match, and we continue on our path.
“ISMAIL YUKSEK DISAPPOINTED US”
İsmail Yüksek disappointed us. He has a foot injury. He had to leave the game. Our medical team is dealing with it. We will learn about his condition from them tomorrow. I also thank our fans for their support.
BATSHUAYI CHOICE
We are a team. We think about each match separately. Everyone respects each other. In this match, we thought it would be more appropriate for Batshuayi to play. Batshuayi’s performance in training during the week was also good. Our choice tonight was in his favor.”
İSMAİL KARTAL: “I KNOW WE WILL WIN AGAINST GALATASARAY”
Addressing the match they will play against Galatasaray away in the 37th week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, İsmail Kartal said, “The match we will play at the opponent’s (Galatasaray) field will require very important conditions and concentration on that day. I trust my team to the fullest, and I know we will win.”
