Press Conference – Transfer Insights from Mourinho: “Developing Players Is My Job, But We Need a CB”
Fenerbahçe Head Coach Jose Mourinho spoke at the press conference following his team’s 3-2 away victory against Konyaspor.

Here’s what Mourinho had to say at the press conference:
“TODAY’S MATCH WAS A GREAT GAME”
“If the Konyaspor president complained about the referee, he’s mistaken. Throughout the week, he said, ‘We need to pray for a draw; one point would be good for us.’ But today, his team got zero points. So, he should be complaining about himself. In my opinion, it was a very good match. It was a tough game for both teams.
Before coming here, during the flash interviews, I congratulated the opposing team, their coach, and their players. They are a good team. I like them as a unit. They play aggressively and at a high tempo; they know what they want to do. They also have a coach who is unafraid to take risks, as seen in the later stages of the game when he played Kramer and Umut together. So, I admire them and congratulate them.
If their president complained, he probably needs to understand football better. The supposed penalty he referred to was preceded by a foul. Therefore, it should have been a free kick in our favor, not a penalty. Aside from that, I think it was a good match. It’s unfortunate that in Turkey, we don’t see too many matches like today’s—games with this level of quality and competitiveness. Today’s match was excellent.”
“WE NEED A CENTER-BACK”
Responding to a question about transfer developments, Mourinho said:
“My job is to develop players, not to request transfers. I believe I’ve developed some of my players—Oğuz, Levent, Yusuf…”
Touching on the need for a center-back, Mourinho added:
“We need a center-back. I’m not saying it’s urgent, but we must sign one to create balance in the squad. We lost Jayden and Becao. If I were to request a player for a specific position, it would be a center-back.”
