Acun Ilıcalı Reflects on Alanyaspor Victory, Calls for Foreign Referees in Galatasaray Derby
Fenerbahçe Vice President Acun Ilıcalı made statements after the Alanyaspor match regarding the Galatasaray derby and İbrahim Hatipoğlu.
Fenerbahçe faced Alanyaspor away in the 23rd week of the Trendyol Süper Lig. Fenerbahçe secured a 2-0 win, thanks to goals in the first half.
After the match, Fenerbahçe Vice President Acun Ilıcalı made statements.

“We are very, very happy. It was a very important away match. Our team started well and played in a controlled manner. But I must open a parenthesis. This year, the Fenerbahçe fans are the rising star of Fenerbahçe. I can clearly say that we have the best fans in the world. Our fans gave as much energy today as our players did.
They played an active role in our comebacks in Kadıköy. We are very happy.”
GALATASARAY DERBY
“I don’t know about the federation, but positive statements have come from Galatasaray regarding foreign referees. We are also positive. Foreign referees can come from the best places in the world. The federation has the power to make that happen. Let’s make a call and both teams should apply to the federation together for a foreign referee.
I’m speaking on behalf of Fenerbahçe Club. We want this derby to be managed by the best referees in the world.
For the last 1 to 1.5 months, I have had to respond to accusations. Then it is said that I talk about Galatasaray. I use my right to reply.
Mr. İbrahim Hatipoğlu made a statement yesterday, as you know. He says, ‘Why doesn’t Acun get punished, and I do?’ Unfortunately, this claim is false. I already got punished, as you know. It was after the Trabzonspor match. The sad part is that Mr. İbrahim Hatipoğlu then joined the broadcast and said that he did not make such a statement.
I asked Sezgin Gelmez, ‘Is Mr. İbrahim lying?’ He said, ‘Yes, he is lying.’ It’s not good to make a statement and then retract or deny it.
TRANSFERS
We were very determined on the transfer front. Our president had this on his mind, and we all came together for the championship. We were probably the best in Europe in terms of transfers this January. We may even be the best team in January in terms of transfers.”
