Fenerbahçe Slams Galatasaray VP Metin Öztürk: “Reckless and Irresponsible”
Fenerbahçe has issued a statement regarding Galatasaray’s national team player Barış Alper Yılmaz, who was injured during the Sivasspor match. The yellow and navy-blue club also responded to remarks made by Galatasaray’s Vice President Metin Öztürk after the Sivasspor match.
Fenerbahçe extended a “get well soon” message to Barış Alper Yılmaz, who was injured following Rey Manaj’s challenge during the Sivasspor–Galatasaray match. However, the club‘s statement also contained harsh criticism directed at Galatasaray’s Vice President Metin Öztürk.
The statement from Fenerbahçe reads as follows:
“We wish a speedy recovery to our national team player Barış Alper Yılmaz, who was injured in yesterday’s Sivasspor-Galatasaray match.
We believe the chaos caused by the referee, who ignored an incident that clearly warranted a red card, must be deeply scrutinized for the future of both Turkish football and our country.
We would also like to draw public attention to the reckless individual named Metin Öztürk, who attempted to involve Fenerbahçe in this incident by insinuating a connection between the Sivasspor player who injured Barış Alper Yılmaz and Fenerbahçe.
We strongly condemn this individual for targeting our club.
We curse this individual and the mentality he represents for pointing fingers at Fenerbahçe in a way that even the devil would not conceive and for defaming our club.”
